Why do you need Segregation of Duties?

Many organizations have a single employee in charge of their main asset, cash. Having a singular person in charge of your main asset puts the entire organization at risk. Implementing SoDAC should be essential in the finance and accounting department of any organization.

Your organization’s biggest risk of fraud is when one person is given the sole responsibility for two conflicting tasks.  Having more than one employee carry out tasks substantially reduces this risk. For example, the employee who prepares checks should not be the same person who signs/authorizes that check. The person responsible for creating a vendor shouldn’t be the same person who pays that vendor.
